I became the Departmental Assessment Coordinator for the Department of Arts and Humanities in Spring 2010.
The following is a summary of the meetings and events I organized or attended during Fall 2010:
September 8, 2010: FAC meeting with Dr. Campbell, 3:45-5:00pm.
September 17, 2010: Assessment meeting with Dr. Cueva, Dr. Campbell, and Dr. Hagen (Humanities), 2:00pm-3:45pm.
September 22, 2010: FAC meeting with Dr. Campbell, 3:45-5:00pm.
September 23, 2010: Assessment meeting 1 (Communication, Assessment in 2009-2010), 2:30-4:00pm.
October 13, 2020: FAC meeting with Dr. Campbell, 3:45pm-5:00pm.
October 14, 2010: Assessment meeting 2 (Communication, Revisions to Degree Program), 2:30pm-4:00pm.
October 20, 2010: Webinar: "Learning Assessment in Higher Education," sponsored by the University of Phoenix and hosted by the Chronicle of Higher Education, Moderator: Bill Pepicello, PhD, Speakers: Marla LaRue, PhD, and Brent Bridgeman, PhD, 1:00pm-2:00pm.
October 26, 2010: Assessment meeting 3 (Communication, Revising Learning Objectives), 2:30pm-4:00pm.
The following is a summary of the meetings and events that I organized or attended during the Spring and Summer 2010:
January 25, 2010: Meeting with Dr. Yvonne Kendall to discuss assessment (2:00pm).
January 26, 2010: Meeting with the Spanish section to discuss assessment (1:30pm-2:30pm).
January 27, 2010: Meeting with the Music section to discuss assessment (2:15pm-3:15pm).
January 29, 2010: Meeting with the Fine Arts section to discuss assessment (1:00pm-2:00pm).
February 3, 2010: Attended meeting with Dr. Jean DeWitt and Dr. Lea Campbell on e-portfolios. Also discussed with Dr. Campbell some of the issues brought up by my meetings with each degree plan in January.
February 11, 2010: Attended general assessment meeting with Dr. Lea Campbell.
February 12, 2010: Attended the first DAC meeting with Dr. Campbell.
February 18, 2010: Attended the Task Stream e-portfolio Lunch n Learn workshop/demo at the TTLC at UHD.
February 21-23, 2010: Attended Texas A&M Assessment Conference.
I sent various e-mails to the faculty reminding them of various dates and summarizing my meetings with Dr. Campbell. I also requested that the Fine Arts section and the Humanities section meet with Dr. Campbell to discuss their assessment plans. In addition requested that the Spanish section start thinking of when we can meet with Dr. Campbell. I reminded them of the assessment meeting on February 25.
I suggested the date of March 3, 2010 for the Humanities section to meet with Dr. Campbell. The junior faculty wanted to know more about assessment and about the structure of the Humanities degree plan.
Dr. Susan Baker and Dr. Carrie Allen (Fine Arts) will attend the assessment workshop February 25 that is necessary for faculty who wish to revise/review/refine their assessment plan.
I looked up Humanities on the class schedule and these are the faculty members currently teaching a humanities class (Bill Nowak and I have taught HUM courses in the past):

March 30, 2010: I called a meeting with all Arts & Humanities faculty to discuss assessment and to explain to them the AIM system (2:00pm-3:00pm).
April 2, 2010: Meeting with the Humanities section to discuss the assessment plan.
April 9, 2010: DAC meeting with Dr. Campbell, (9:00am-10:00am).
April 9, 2010: Meeting with the Spanish section to discuss the learning objectives and assessment plan revision (11:00am-12:30pm).
May 7, 2010: Attended the lecture/workshop Differentiation in Teacher Education: The Benefits and Challenges Associated with Practicing What We Teach, by Tanya Santangelo.
June 4, 2010: Meeting (led by Dr. Nowak) with Spanish faculty (Dr. Mosier, Dr. Nowak, Dr. García, Dr. Medina, Dr. Mandell, Dr. Padilla) to "close the loop" on the assessment of the taped oral presentations in the portfolio.
June 7, 2010: Meeting with Communications faculty (Dr. Shelley and Dr. DeWitt) and Dr. Cueva to discuss assessment plan.
June 22, 2010: Meeting with Communications faculty (Dr. Shelley, Dr. DeWitt, Dr. Wanguri, Dr. Hoang, Prof. Pogue) and Dr. Cueva to discuss assessment plan.
